Known as the "Ambitious City", Hamilton is situated in the province of Ontario. It is the 9th most important city in Canada with a population of 504 559 people from varying backgrounds: Italian, German, Romanian, Hungarian, Polish, Portuguese, and Indian. Hamilton also has a francophone community.

The economy of the city has relied heavily on its steel and manufacturing industries but the science and health sectors are increasingly contributing to its development. Hamilton Harbour has become one of the most important maritime ports in all of Canada.

Hamilton is an eco-friendly and welcoming city with many museums and galleries. Among them, the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum and the Art Gallery of Hamilton, which includes over 6,000 works of art and Impressionist paintings. The Hamilton Botanical Gardens (Royal Botanical Gardens), the Cathedral of Christ the King, the Dundurn Castle, as well as the residence of the Canadian Prime Minister, are among some of the most visited attractions among the city’s tourists. The ethnic diversity in Hamilton means there are plenty of restaurants to sample some of Canada’s finest world cuisine.

Hamilton is also known for its Canadian football team the Tiger-Cats as well as its ice hockey team, the Bulldogs.
